Youth Ministries - Grades 6-8

The Junior High program is intended to challenge the youth spiritually, intellectually, and socially in an effort to help them draw nearer to Christ. It is designed to prepare the youth during 6th and 7th grade for their confirmation year in 8th grade. The Junior High youth group incorporates worship, Bible study, weekend retreats, group outings, mission trips, and other fun activities into a program designed to create an intimate community among the youth. On Tuesday evenings, children can join us at Tuesday Nights Together (TNT) for Bible study, choir, and dinner. The youth group is a place where kids can step away from the social pressures of junior high school and feel free to be themselves without the fear of rejection.

The Junior High years are vital in the development of every youth, and our program seeks to foster a safe place for that development to occur by providing a healthy balance between fellowship and faith-building opportunities. The fellowship opportunities, such as our planned monthly outings and lock-ins, provide healthy, alternative social activities. Faith-building opportunities, such as Bible studies and service work, allow the youth to reflect on their relationship with God and their place in this world. Year after year, our graduating Junior High youth remain involved with the group as they move into high school.

Confirmation Classes

Our Confirmation students participate in a comprehensive program, as eighth-graders, that involves two regular group sessions a week (Sunday and Tuesday). We have a team of teachers who lead the class in many activities and investigations. These include investigations dealing with Bible studies, biblical and church history, prayer, theology and theological questions, and practical issues of faith. Students have the opportunity to experiment in many ways with their faith, and they encounter many new and interesting phenomena as they think about, and build, their relationship with God. Class members have opportunities to attend weekend retreats, as well as engaging in service activities. The program is designed to involve the participants in as holistic a manner as possible, with a balance between pure study and practical application. Teachers strive to involve the students intellectually and emotionally on their spiritual journeys.
