Tuesday Nights Together (TNT) (20 Sep 2011)

The First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield has been offering TNT(Tuesday Nights Together), a midweek faith-building program for all school-age youth, for more than 20 years.

Each Tuesday, youth will participate in a variety of activities:

  • Bible Studies:  Lessons have been carefully selected to help children and youth reflect on life situations.  Using a fun-filled approach, participants will gain a better understanding of their faith and commitment to Christ.
  • Music:  Singing familiar church songs, as well as contemporary church music, all ages are sure to enjoy the music!  The elementary, junior and senior choirs participate during various worship services.
  • Mission/Recreation/Craft Time:  Age-appropriate games, crafts, and mission projects help to reinforce the importance of being part of God’s family.
  • Dinner:  Our menus are kid-tested! Sharing a meal together encourages fellowship, friendships and a sense of the family of God.  Table games complete this time.

Who: More than 200 kids between 1st & 12th grade  from more than seven different towns and sixteen different schools to participate in the program each year.  Participants do not have to be members of the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield: we welcome everyone.

When: Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:20 p.m. for 1stundefined5th graders, and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for 6th-12th graders.  There are two sessions, one in the fall and one in the winter.

How: Since it's start in 1985, the program’s success is directly linked to the support and leadership of parent volunteers and church staff.  For each participating child, a parent is expected to volunteer.  A variety of jobs is available.

Cost for both sessions:

  • 1 child -  $140
  • 2 children -  $265
  • 3+ children - $355

Registrations must be received no later than September 20. Participants may not attend TNT until we have received the following:

  1. Payment made online or a check for the proper amount made out to First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield. Payment by check should be mailed or dropped off to the church office by 9/20.
  2. Permission slip and code of conduct form entirely filled out and signed for all participants. Must be received by 9/21. Click here to download the both forms:

2012 Senior High Mission Trip (10 Jun 2012)

The senior high youth will return to Mexico this year to continue work with Ramon Celis.  The mission trip is a fun, faith-filled, rewarding experience for all participants.

Servant Leader Commitment

As disciples of Christ, we hear Jesus' call to follow in His footsteps. Jesus challenged each disciple to serve God with his whole life. For many youth groups, a week-long mission trip is the single focus of their service experience. At FPCD, the mission trip is just one phase of our mission program. In fact, participants going on the mission trip are expected to participate in weekly or monthly programs as a way of developing a servant's heart prior to the trip.

A large part of the mission experience also has to do with how well participants know each other. For this reason, individuals are required to participate in at least 25 Bible studies between October and May and attend worship faithfully throughout that time (minimum of 25 worship services). Participants will also seek to develop their personal faith.

These expectations are not designed to limit participation in the mission experiences but rather to help the participants gain a greater understanding of what it means to be a servant Leader.

Junior High Mission Trip 2012 (15 Jul 2012)

The junior high youth will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan this year for the 2012 Mission Trip. The students will help people in real need - all while having a great time with new friends from across the country. The mission trip is a fun, faith-filled, rewarding experience for all participants. We hope you'll join us - sign up early because we only have 20 spots reserved.

Here are some comments from youth who have attended these trips in the past.

"I attended a Week of Hope. It was my first mission trip with my church. I am the newest member of my youth group, and I didn't really feel accepted into it. After a few nights there, I grew closer to my youth members, and I now know that I am accepted, and I FEEL accepted. But not only did I grow closer to my youth group, I grew closer to God. I am so thankful that he led me to my youth group, and to this mission trip. – Anonymous

“I realized how much I have and I need to be thankful, and use my life by helping and not watching TV or playing video games.” – Anonymous

A non-refundable deposit of $200 must be dropped off in the Friendly Office before your registration is considered complete.
