First Presbyterian Church seeks to continue to be the kind of place where people experience a vibrant faith community that actively lives and shares the love of God through Jesus Christ.

We are a regional church serving many families in nearby communities. Our church is an exciting, magnetic and spiritual center that attracts and stimulates members and friends of all ages to become witnesses to God's message.

Our Mission

The mission, or core goal, of the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield is Faith Development. Working toward that goal, we strive to achieve excellence in worship, Christian education, congregational fellowship, music, outreach and mission.

It is also our goal to be known and experienced as a vibrant faith community that actively lives and shares the love of God as revealed through Jesus Christ.

Our Goals and Principles

To create worship, education and fellowship experiences that will enable both current and potential members to learn about, share and live the love of God as revealed through Jesus Christ. All three experiences are essential in helping us grow and share our faith.

Worship is central to our faith. Everything we do flows from our center, which is worship. It is through worship that we affirm our sense of community and our faith in Jesus Christ. As we gather for worship, we extend a warm welcome to everyone.

Christian Education is a life-long journey of faith-development. We offer numerous programs for both children and adults. It is important for adults, especially parents, to be learning and growing in their faith experience. Our children grow in faith when they observe their parents growing in faith and knowledge.

Fellowship time for the people of God should be ample and not hurried. It helps us foster Christian friendships that are so important to encouraging one another as we seek to live out our faith.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone who professes faith in Jesus Christ and desires to grow and serve with us in the Presbyterian Church. Persons who have never been baptized in a Christian Church are received upon their profession of faith and baptism. Persons who have been baptized are welcomed upon transfer of membership from another church, or reaffirmation of their faith.
